When it comes to Autumn/Winter there are so many trends out there so I'm showing 5 trends that I love and loathe now from the high street and the catwalk!
1) Knitwear
Not just for show but knitwear and accessories are also practical because they feel nice and they are cosy. I love knitted accessories especially scarves and gloves and they can keep you warm in the colder nights, make cool staples in your wardrobe and they are quite universal.
Long sleeved cardigan, £10.00, George at Asda
Long sleeve bow tunic- £18.00, Matalan
Grey leg warmers (Also available in white)- £12.99, H&M
2) Bright colours
Not just for S/S, pop colours still reign on both high street and catwalk. Wearing bright clothes makes my day a little more lively and happy in the winter time and they break all of the fashion rules. I would keep the rest my outfit minimal because it can be a bit overwhelming. Even a simple bright top is a 'nod' the trend for me.
Red Ribbed neck top- £7.99, New look
Buckle duffle blue coat- Reduced from £40.00 to £30.00, Matalan
Teal skinny jeans- Reduced from £22.00 to £17.60, Peacocks
3) Polka dots
I like simple trends such as Polka dots. It's one of my favourite patterns also because it's stylish and can be a lifesaver when I'm stuck on what to wear sometimes. I wear it more in the winter than the summer and it's probably shown mostly on tops but still looks great with other items as well.
Black Polka Dot Blouse (Also available in light beige)- £12.99- H&M
Dark brown polka dot socks- £1.99, New look
Red polka dot dress- £45.00, Oasis
4) Fur boots
They come in any colour but my all time favourite colour is black. So comfortable no wonder everybody's wearing them. A classic outfit for me including the fur boots would be jeans, a t-shirt and boots. One of my all time favourite footwear for when the cold kicks in.
Biker style snugg black boots- 16.00, Matalan
Button detail Brown snug boots- 14.00, Matalan
Faux fur natural lace boots (Also available in Black) £32.00, Peacocks
5- Floppy hats
Floppy hats remind me of my favourite era, the 70's. Floppy hats have blasted from the past to now and are now in almost every high street and designer shops. The floppy hat can be the centre of attention in any outfit, is so sophisticated but fun at the same time and looks so glamorous which is why I love this type of hat and why it is a big trend for Winter.
Chocolate floppy hat- £24.00, Next
Tan Floppy hat- £10.00, Select
Wool felted Fedora hat- (Also available in colours Black, Camel, Dark Brown and Deep Red) -Reduced from £9.99 to £6.99, New Look
And where there are cool trends in fashion there are some that just aren't for everyone. Now for the trends that I am loathing right now for A/W...
To wear a sheer shirt you would need alot of confidence to wear which is what I lack and I don't think they are a necessity for winter either or very attractive.
Red sheer pussy blow blouse- £24.00, Dorothy Perkins
I just don't think that all patterns look nice when put together because it can either look too confusing or weird. I would less likely be seen in this fashion.
Bambi tunic dress- £298, Betsey Johnson
Simply put, these aren't my favourite type of trousers, I despise the see-through types but they have been popular since the summer. Most types of Palazzo pants have been suited to the colour block trend and they often remind me of harem pants.
Orange Palazzo Trousers- Reduced from £40.00 to £12.50, Asos
To me, these dresses look just a little over the top for me and I like low-key dresses better but for others, it suits special occasions more.
Paillette shift dress- £110, Banana Republic
The androgynous look is one of the biggest trends this Autumn/Winter, hitting celebs such as Pixie Lott as well as high street fashion and this is a key item for the look. I would be less likely to wear them though.
Suede Brogue- £19.99, New Look
I guess that just about sums up my favourite and not-so-favourite trends for Autumn/Winter right now! Until next time...
(Some of these items are in the sale so if you're interested in buying any, check first to avoid disappointment and on some websites, some of the clothing may be different in the shops. All info is correct from the 30th October 2011)
